Features and Benefits
High Security Level
vSEC:CMS is unique in the market because security is not an add-on, it is designed in the system since the first version. The cornerstone of the security is that all sensitive data and keys are always secured using hardware security such as HSMs or hardware credentials. Operators of the system are securely authenticated using 2FA authentication and all usage is securely audited for full traceability. The main task of a secure device management system is to connect these devices (such as PKI credentials) to user identities in enterprise systems (such as user directories) and maintain this connection throughout the lifecycle of the security device. That implies a need for communication with several external systems. In vSEC:CMS, only proven and secure standards for these connectors are used.
Scalable
vSEC:CMS uses a client-server architecture, where the load on the server is rarely the limiting factor. The main operations are performed on the client. When the operator application is executed on a server using RDP, the RDP host should be scaled for the appropriate number of operators using it. Self-service interfaces are also available with the server accessed over HTTPS, which means that the server scaling is similar to a web server, but with a small amount of data being transported. The databases used in vSEC:CMS are standard SQL databases and the majority of the user data is located in the user directory.
Reliable
The vSEC:CMS system makes use of a Windows service architecture that can be clustered, allowing high availability using failover capability. Backup features are built into the system to enable simple and straightforward backup processes. Standard components are used whenever possible to simplify maintenance and support.
Expandable
The product feature set is constantly expanding with multiple releases through the year. Additionally, vSEC:CMS includes advanced integration opportunities using well-documented APIs.
User Friendly
Ease of use has been a key priority since the initial development of vSEC:CMS and continues to be a priority in all our releases. For example, the system makes use of a lifecycle diagram that shows the current state of a credential and all options available from the current state. Simplifying the tasks for the operators when managing a credential’s lifecycle.
Enterprises can implement the feature-rich credential management system offering a variety of key benefits:
